intel SSD 510 series released!

So here is a brief introduction to SSD (Solid-State Drive), SSD's are data storage devices used in computers just as our common Hard disk drives (also known as Traditional HDDs) we use in our PCs or Laptops.

SSDs differ from the standard HDDs by having faster access time, less power consumption, less vulnerable to shocks, longer lifetime, silent operation and have no moving parts.

The World's largest Computer accessories manufacturing company has launched a newer and more efficient generation of Solid-State drives, the 510 series codenamed 'Emcrest'.
This is a great news for all the avid gamers and technology enthusiasts as the specs are simply mindblowing.
The Intel SSD 510 series offers sequential read speeds of 500MB/s and writing speeds of 315MB/s. As we all know Intel has recently released 2nd Generation Intel Core processors and they comparatively have higher speed SATA bus interfaces than the older ones, to fully take advantage of these features Intel SSDs have given a considerable boost to their SATA performance to a whopping 6GB/s throttle speeds.

Although the speeds have been drastically increased you might be thinking how much noise and heat will it bring with itself?? Well not to worry, Intel have taken care of those problems! Intel claims that because the drives have no moving parts, it provides a quiet and cool environment. Another advantage while using the intel SSDs is that the laptops run more efficiently as it requires much less power compared to HDDs. Because of its highly rugged body, the drives are built to withstand even the most unnatural shocks without any loss of data!
Intel says that it provides 56% increase in speeds compared to a traditional hard disk drive. Due to its quick response time, Windows and other performance-intensive applications load faster and also provides the most fastest boot ups.
The SSDs are designed using the 34nm NAND flash memory channels delivering the fastest possible performance speeds.

With the OCZ's Vertex 3 Pro being released at the same time it can pose a huge competition to Intel 510 series, as the Vertex offers breakthrough speeds of 500MB/s read speeds and 550MB/s write speeds and comes at a lot cheaper rate than the Intel SSDs. For 120GB models it is charging $250 and 240GB models at a rate of $500.

Intel SSD 510 series 120GB models are priced at $280 and a 250GB model will cost around $580. Both models come with a 3 year limited warranty.

Ending on a lighter side, Intel SSD Roadmap for 2011 has been leaked onto the internet at Q1 2011. Pls visit here for more details regarding the roadmap.
